Invitation to grow…Mos Def did his thing with this on the Brown Sugar soundtrack!

Well, this week I placed myself on a talk fast so I could gain some clarity on things. I did not realize how helpful it would be in calming certain frustrations. Since I was not speaking, I was able to receive more (ideas and insight mostly). I was inspired to also write a short story as a result. It went well for the most part but I decided to break it today to contact a friend.

I’ve decided that I will do this more often to stay connected to what is happening within.

    I subscribe to the idea of “talk fast” wholeheartedly. My version of it is more like “disconnect fast”. I don’t watch tv, I don’t answer my cellphone, I don’t answer my home phone, I don’t log onto the internet … basically, I just sit … me and my notepad … or sometimes just me … and God ….

    It’s amazing what happens during those moments. I’m glad you were able to become calmer and more productive during your fast.

    your representation of humans as plants is one of the concepts i like the most about your work. that image is nice.

    yeah, those talk fasts do me a lot of good from time to time, and i often employ them unconsciously.

    @pyaspirite

    yep, i’ve done the complete disconnection as well (no music, internet, television, phone, or speech). now, that was very revealing! thanks for stopping through ;-)

    @fly tie

    thanks for the words on the image and plantFolk conceptualizations. yep, talk fasts work wonders especially when you find yourself thinking,”wtf?!” lol

    @Kilah

    yep, connections are more present when we aren’t pulled in several directions at once. thanks for the words…

    Silence truly does reveal amzing things!

    I love this piece… it reminds me of a park I go to often in Summer- everything is flat for miles with wild grass and birds, only just a few huge bushes that rise magical off the ground – and inside them are these little holes where people have obviously made tree houses out of it lol … reflection time. Sacred spaces.
